Season 2, Episode 6, Columbo - A Stitch in Crime (1973)
Season 2 Episode 5: “Columbo” A Stitch in Crime (TV Episode 1973)
This episode was directed by Hy Averback, and written by Shirl Hendryx, WIlliam Link and Richard Levinson.
There are not many outfits in this episode as a lot of the characters are in scrubs, nurse uniforms, and doctor’s coats, but we found a few looks to celebrate.
1) Marcia Dalton’s red blouse under a black and white stripe knit v-neck vest, with ivory hiphugger pants:
This plastic surgery nurse looks comfy and cool as she gives Columbo a home remedy for a pollen allergy
2) Guests at Dr. Barry Mayfield’s party:
The lady in the pastel floral head scarf wearing a white blouse with hot pink knit vest over it is rocking the buffet.
And this lady walking by in a full length gown with a 5 foot long polka dot tie - red white blue and perfect:
3) The Canadian tuxedo with pink button down worn by Harry Alexander as he is drugged, trips the f out, and tumbles to his death down the outdoor stairs:
At least he looked cool in double denim for his senseless death.
The funniest moment in this episode is when Dr. Mayfield asks Columbo, taking a few of everything from the buffet line, if he is collecting evidence or just being sociable:
And then a few minutes later when Columbo, having housed a heaping plate of crab meat, olives, random meats, raw vegetables and dips, and possibly fruits, asks the doctor if he has anything for an upset stomach:
Runners up for best outfit go to the girl feeding goats at the petting zoo in a turquoise gingham get up:
And Dr. Mayfield’s chambray striped blazer, navy turtleneck, and blue plaid pants as he brainwashes nurse Marcia:
Bonus points for decor go out to the nurses’ apartment with bamboo wallpaper, key lime green linoleum countertops, wicker stools with fuzzy shag cushions, and a Grecian ruins ice bucket:
And finally bonus points for decor awarded to Harry Alexander’s outside hallway doors of perception with the trippy geometric psychedelic - this is your brain on drugs - overlay:
