Season 1, Episode 4 - "Columbo" Suitable for Framing (TV Episode 1971)   This episode was directed by Hy Averback, and written by Richard Levinson, William Link, and Jackson Gillis.   The three best outfits in this episode are:   1) Mitilda, the art gallery owner, in a bright pink and shiny silver lamé cloud gown:     It has a cape:      This stunning and glorious garment has a boatneck and half sleeves and coordinates well with Sam Franklin, the featured hippie artist’s paisley button down shirt.        2) Mitilda, again, in a bright orange and yellow stripe zip up maxi dress caftan:      She accessorizes this with bright neon chunky acrylic costume jewelry necklaces:     3) Aunt Edna’s lime green suit:     It appears to be a wool or mohair blend with gold buttons and a Jetsons-esque two-rib mock turtle neckline:       The funniest line in this episode is when Columbo goes to...

The three best outfits in this episode are: 1) Helen Stewart’s bandana ensemble:     She’s sailing, badly, in a bright red butterfly collar bandana print blazer, black tee, dark denim flares...         ...accessorized with gold hoop earrings, matching red bandana kerchief on her head and bright red wedge espadrilles. This episode was directed by Bernard Kowalski, and written by Richard Levinson and William Link. Levinson and Link won Emmy awards for most Outstanding Writing for this.  The three best outfits in this episode are: 1) Brimmer’s green blazer:      Brimmer wears a dark green blazer with leather covered buttons and western curve piping seam on back. They are in Los Angeles in the early 70s and the slight western style is evident.       He pairs this with a peach with blue stripe oxford shirt, deep coral/brown slacks and a bright red tie.   Season 1, Episode 1 - "Columbo" Murder by the Book (TV Episode 1971) This episode was directed by a 24 year-old Steven Spielberg, and written by Steven Bochco, Richard Levinson, and William Link.  The three best outfits in this episode are: 1) Joanna Ferris’ purple and red ensemble:     She’s wearing a polyester/rayon turtleneck tunic with attached scarf, a long knit purple sweater vest, and matching purple poly pants She has accessorized with a long thin gold paperclip chain:     And she is wearing some gray suede leather buckle loafers with stacked wooden wedge heels.     She looks coordinated and comfy.
