Columbo Clothes and Laughs

Pilot 1, Columbo - Prescription Murder (1968)   This was the original first pilot Columbo TV Movie. It was directed by Richard Irving, and written by William Link and Richard Levinson.    From the very opening scene with women in a rainbow palette of sparkling and fluffy gowns, this pilot movie is heavy on the spectacular clothes and light on the comedy, so we will roll with it.   The three best outfits in this episode are:  1) Joan Hudson's goddess gown       This is a full length pink ancient Greek or Roman gown with gold trim   It matches Columbo's ice cream. 2) Carol Flemming's sailor nightgown and sunglasses:  She's in a full length ivory velvet nightgown with a dark brown sailor scarf tied in front Inexplicably she wears her sunglasses at night until she takes them off to tell her husband he is sleeping in the guest room 3) Joan Hudson's lime green knit racerback cut-out tank dress:  She's accessorized with some light yellow ...

Season 6, Episode 3 - Columbo - "The Bye-Bye Sky High I.Q. Murder Case" (1977)   This episode was directed by Sam Wanamaker, and written by  Robert Malcolm Young and William Link, and Richard Levinson.  The three best outfits from this episode are:    1) Vivian Brandt's red sheer tunic outfit:      Here she is wearing a wide leg bright red jumpsuit with a silver belt and a long sheer boatneck tunic on top.  She really loves clothes, expensive clothes, and spending money she doesn't have on them.  The red dots on the tunic are 3D texturized, almost looking like pussy willows, and there are sequins. It looks great with her hair.    2) Vivian Brandt's new nightgown:     She vies for her husband's attention in this dramatic entrance wearing her new pale pink silky negligee with matching robe with giant emu feather sleeves.  She bought it for him, but unfortunately he felt compelled to embezzle from his firm and...

Season 2, Episode 2 - " Columbo - The Greenhouse Jungle - 1972 " This episode was directed by Boris Sagal and written by Jonathan Latimer, Richard Levinson and William Link.  The three best outfits in this episode are:  1) Gloria West’s pink on pink look:     Gloria is rocking polyester pink bootcut pants with a hot pink side-tie halter top     She finishes the look with big striped acrylic hoop earrings, gold bangle bracelets, and a pink diamond ring.        2) Cathy Goodland’s red dress:     Cathy is wearing a polyester plunging v-neck halter dress with white trim and a bow tie on front.     This is summery, fresh and adorable.   3) Cathy Goodland’s white and yellow flower dress over shorts:        This is a pastel yellow and white floral lace cut out maxi dress with a side slit and the coolest matching shorts underneath:     The funniest line in this episode is when Columbo absolu...
