Season 2 Episode 1:  “Columbo” Étude in Black (TV Episode 1972) This episode was directed by Nicholas Colasanto (aka “Coach” from “Cheers”), Peter Falk and John Cassavetes. It was written by Steven Bochco, Richard Levinson and William Link.  The three best outfits from this episode are:  1) Janice Benedict (played by Blythe Danner who was 5 months pregnant with Gwyneth Paltrow gestating in her uterus during filming) has an amazing casual style despite being set behind desks and tables and pashminas and flower planters to hide her pregnancy.
