Season 3, Episode 1, Columbo - Lovely But Lethal (1973)

The three best outfits in this episode are:


1)  Viveca Scott’s peach and beige suede western get up: 

 


 

She’s rocking a beige suede suit with a peach butterfly collar polo underneath, with some matching leather gloves to hide her poison ivy

 


 

 Very cute button sash on back

 


 

Paired with a saddle tan leather purse and matching platform heels, looking like western peach cobbler. 


 

 

2) Shirley Blane’s suede patchwork floral dress: 

 

 

 

Love this dress with dark green suede panels with contrast stitching, a butterfly collar and light pastel floral western blouse patchwork skirt. My what a sweet little dress. 

 

 

3) It’s hard to narrow this down, and there are many more choices in today’s poll, but we will go with Viveca’s black sequin outfit: 

 

 

 

Matching black entirely-sequined jacket with flare pants, over a silky pussy bow blouse, paired with platform heels. 

 


 

 

Mmm, sequins. 


A closeup of her pants reveals a doctored ad for Parliament cigarettes (“It works like a cigarette holder works”):

The funniest lines from this episode are when Viveca tells Columbo he belongs in a museum:  

 


 

And when Viveca tells Mr. Lang to go gobble up a pill company: 

 


  

Also when Columbo says “Gee whiz, you'd think that they were building secret weapons around here,” and the lab Attendant says “Why, we’re not?” 

 



  

Also funny: What does a clam say? 

 


 

 And finally Viveca: “I like young men, Lieutenant, lots of them.”

 


 

Bonus points for decor go out to Viveca’s office where everything is light gray or pink and curved:

How the Columbo Parody Dog Head Greeting Cards Came to Be:    It was around New Years 2024 when Kevin said I needed a hobby besides the pandemic. I said, "no I do not."    He said, "yes you do."  I said "okay, I will paint." He kindly got an art kit and set up a small easel in a room downstairs.    Mostly as a way to flip off AI art I started painting with acrylics.   I painted my "pandemic friends."    I painted some psychedelic stars that have been in my head since 1988.       For a big challenge, I moved onto trying to paint some favorite Columbo scenes.  The first one turned out okay.      I thought I could share these paintings in greeting card form with other Columbo fans.  I ordered 10 cards as a test from the most eco-friendly card maker I could find in the USA, and as they were being made, I painted 11 more of my favorite scenes.    For example, John Cassavetes playing the Maest...

  Pilot 2, Columbo - Ransom for a Dead Man (1971)     This is the second Columbo pilot movie to feature Peter Falk, and was directed by Richard Irving. It was written by Dean Hargrove, Richard Levinson, and William Link.    This is the last episode we are going to document, here we go! The three best outfits in this episode are:  1. Leslie Williams's pilot outfit:  Mrs. Williams is wearing a floral silk scarf on her head and amber aviator shades.  Her long white coat is lined in bright red silk, and her pants and shoes are all white. She's like the Red Baron, but the White Baron.  2. Nancy the secretary's gray and white citrus wedge skirt with a necktie:  She's wearing an a-line miniskirt with the cutest print that resembles lemon slices, but in gray.  Her matching blouse and wide white tie bring it all together.    3.
